Golf Links Recreation
Corridor
Tucson, Arizona
This unique Sonoran
Desert park is part of a major recreation network that connects the
Central Business District, adjacent neighborhoods and the sprawling
active Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. This significant recreation corridor
is heavily planted with native plants which identify it. The pedestrian
and bike paths cross drainage and intersect surface street at urban
plazas. These "Gateway Plazas" are the main entries to the
Base Facility and connect to the adjourning neighborhoods. Overpass
bridge detailing and aircraft sensitive night-lighting give this landscape
a distinctive Southwest flavor and popularity.
