Snowmass at Aspen Snowmass,
Colorado
1988
Conceptual development plans and development budgets for all of the
remaining development lands held by the FDIC. The Horse Ranch was
envisioned as a residential community of single and multi family units
with access to riding facilitates and stables situated along the edge
of a valley and overlooking a proposed golf course. The Palisades/Base
Village area was envisioned as a mixed use plan of commercial, retail,
lodging and residential uses that would form the gateway and provide
focus for Snowmass Village at the base of the existing ski runs. The
Meadows/East Village was envisioned as a new base area which accesses
new ski terrain. The Village Center contains mixed uses of commercial,
retail, lodging and recreational facilities organized around pedestrian
spaces and overlooking a golf course and skating rink. Residential
parcels are organized on the adjacent hillsides to allow ski in ski
out access. The Divide was envisioned as an exclusive architecturally
controlled residential area of single family houses with ski in access
and long vistas to distant mountain ranges.
